Ian Richards Life Member - added December 2014

Professor Ian Richards joined what was then the Journalism Education Association in the mid 1980s, after moving into academia from print journalism. Since that time he has served the JEA, later JEAA and now JERAA, in a number of capacities – as president in the early 1990s and since 2003 as editor of Australian Journalism Review. Over the years of his editorship, the quality of the journal has steadily increased and it has broadened its outlook from a focus primarily on Australia to a more global perspective.

Mark Pearson Life Member

Professor Mark Pearson

Prof Mark Pearson was made a life member in 2012. Mark has had a distinguished career in which he’s made noteworthy contributions to journalism education and research. He served the JEA for many years, playing an important role in developing AJR into the strong, peer-reviewed, high-quality journal that it is today. The purpose, quality and content of AJR has developed a lot since its early years – and Mark was one of several key figures who led that process.

Mark is one of many excellent journalism educators who have given long service to journalism education in Australia, but his honour is given to him because of his work over many years to the JERAA.
